A recall of Thomas the Train Wooden Railway toys was announced June 13, 2007 because of lead paint on the toys. RC2 Corporation announced it was voluntarily recalling more than a dozen different types of Thomas toys it made in China between 2005 and April 2007 because their surface paint contained lead.
A lawsuit has been filed in federal court in Chicago demanding the company provide medical monitoring to children who may have ingested lead paint from its products.
RC2, based in Oak Brook, Ill., said in a June 13 statement that the recall, representing about 4 percent of wooden railway unit sales in the United States, would reduce the company’s second-quarter earnings by as much as $2 million. No illnesses or injuries have been reported as a result of the paint, it said.
The toy recall is for the
safety of children. Please go to the site to see if you have any of the unsafe products in your home. The recall is a national recall and includes Oregon.
