The drug was sent to the Center for Integrative Medicine in Portland, where three people received injections of the defective batch. The deaths occurred in late March and early April.

ApotheCure said the defective doses were sent only to the Portland clinic.

At least two deaths have been linked to a bad medication, manufactured at 10 times the normal dosage, dispensed in Oregon and Washington. The bad medication led to deaths in Oregon and Washington. A third death is being investigated.

Last week, the Oregon Poison Center at Oregon Health & Science University sent a warning to the state’s naturopaths about use of the drug colchicine, which was discovered as a possible connection between a death in Portland and another in Yakima, Wash.

Tests on the vials of the colchinine remaining at the Portland, Oregon clinic that injected the drug into the patient's back revealed that the patients died from medication that was incorrectly manufactured. The deaths are currently presumed to be from manufacturing errors, not injection or doctor errors.

The Center for Integrative Medicine, on Southwest Macadam Avenue that was operated by physicians and naturopaths, was involved in dispensing the colchinine in all three deaths. The center has been permanently closed.

If the time ever comes when you need the services of an Oregon injury attorney, you may need a few suggestions. It is important that you choose the best attorney for your situation. These steps can help you make a good decision:

When you have been injured you may need to hire an Oregon injury attorney. The best attorney for you will have experience in the area of personal injury law. It would not make sense to hire a lawyer who specializes in a different area of the law. Why choose a patent or divorce lawyer when you can hire someone who has an extensive background in personal injury law?

Choose an Oregon injury attorney who has experience. It is usually best to hire an attorney who has worked on many cases. You may also want to ask about the success rate of the cases the attorney has been involved with. If the attorney doesn't have a good record of wins, you may want to continue with your search.

Find out what kind of reputation the attorney has. Ask around and you will be able to get some information about your attorney. You will be served the best with an attorney who is known for being fair and honest.

Set up a meeting with a few Oregon injury attorneys. Come to the meetings prepared with questions you want to ask. You should also be ready to answer questions about your case. When you meet with each lawyer think about how you were treated. Did the attorney have time for and your questions? Did he or she seem interested in your case? Was the attorney willing to answer your questions?

After meeting with each Oregon injury attorney you can decide which one will best suit your needs. The attorneys should be able to tell you whether or not you have a case and a little about how to proceed. There are times when an attorney may not be in a position to take on new cases.

Consider these steps when you are in a position to need to hire a personal injury lawyer and you will be able to find the best Oregon injury lawyer for your individual case.

When you need a personal injury lawyer, where do you turn? How do you go about finding someone who is interested in your case and has the experience necessary to handle it?

Injuries can be devastating and emotional. Maybe you have suffered at the hands of another and do not know what to do or how to find someone who can assist you. Do you look in the phone book and take a chance that you will get lucky? Should you call the number listed on the bottom of the screen when you are watching a television commercial? These are two ways to find an Oregon injury lawyer but are they the best ways?

If you know a family member or a friend who has used the services of a personal injury attorney you may want to start there. A personal recommendation is often a good place to start. A coworker may have the name of someone who did a good job for them.

Once you have the name of two or three Oregon injury lawyers you are ready to begin the visits. It may seem like a waste of time to talk to more than one attorney but there are several things to consider when you need to retain an attorney. On the other hand, you may have an instance rapport with a certain lawyer and choose to immediately retain that person.

Cost is one thing to think about. There may be quite a difference in fees. This may be because of the experience an attorney has, the size of the law firm and number of cases the attorney handles at one time. Before you decide on an attorney or firm and sign a contract, make sure you fully understand your financial obligations. Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency basis but there may be fees that you are responsible for even if you do not win your case.

Think about how you were treated at each appointment. Did you feel comfortable with the Oregon injury lawyer and the staff members you met? Were you treated with respect and were your questions answered? Do you understand how your case will be handled and who will be responsible?

When you need to retain an Oregon injury lawyer you will want to choose a person who is attentive to your needs and has the time and experience needed to procure the best possible outcome.

Kaiser Permanente has agreed to a settlement for dumping homeless patients. The patient dumping by Kaiser resulted in a settlement and changes in Kaiser policies.

Caroly Ann Reyes was a 63-year-old patient who was discharged from Kaiser's Bellflower hospital last March. Video from a local rescue mission shows Ms. Reyes in a hospital gown and slippers being dropped off by a taxi and then wandering aimlessly along the street. After several minutes, officials from the rescue mission escorted her inside.

Legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, Mark Rosenbaum, said until now the problem has received little attention from law enforcement in cities and the Kaiser settlement was a national model for a problem.

Many people do not realize that children can be exposed to harmful pesticides even in a school yard. In California, the injured children were exposed to pesticides while in the school yard. Laws should be passed and enforced to help protect children from pesticide exposure.

The rate of pesticide poisoning among children nationwide has risen in recent years, as suburbs are getting closer to farms, according to a 2005 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study found that 40 percent of all children sickened by pesticides at school were victims of pesticide carried on the breeze or drift-pesticide. If you see pesticide spraying near a school or location with children, consider reporting it to the Environmental Protection Agency or calling your local agency to get testing done of the area to help protect children.

The family of a Florida inmate who died after he was beaten by fellow inmates received $1 million to settle their claim that prison medical staff took nearly an hour to call paramedics. The medical malpractice lawsuit was because the nurse failed to recognize the signs that the prisoner was dying and the doctor failed to examine the prisoner for over 40 minutes, despite being able to see him through a glass window from his office. The man had nine months left to serve before being released.

I met Katie Morris after she was injured when she was eight years old. She was full of life. She loved sports. One of her favorite sport sayings was "Go Big or Go Home!" Katie always chose to go BIG.

Shortly after Thanksgiving 2005, Katie was diagnosed with a very rare brain tumor. Katie lost her fight April 25, 2007 a few days after turning 13.

Katie was featured on ESPN as part of her Make a Wish Foundation dream. Katie wanted her Make a Wish dream to include her entire baseball team (Katie was the only girl on the team). Through Make a Wish, Katie and her team were able to meet the Mariners, attend a game, run the bases and have a wonderful time. If you would like to help make another child's dream come true, please consider donating to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Maritime and admiralty laws are unique as well as complicated. Because of this you will want to hire an Oregon maritime lawyer who has the skill and knowledge needed to handle your specific case.

When you have made the decision to pursue your case or you want an educated opinion concerning your case, set up an appointment with a maritime attorney. Deciding to work with an experienced lawyer will give you the best chance for a favorable outcome.

A lot of information is in the news lately about car accidents or deaths when one of the drivers was driving drunk or DUII. To make matters worse, many of these drunk drivers in Oregon and Washington have past DUIIs and/or suspended licenses. Be careful when you are driving late at night and, if possible, avoid driving during popular holidays or events (Super Bowl, etc.) when many drivers may have been drinking.

If you have been involved in a car accident in Oregon or Washington involving a drunk driver or intoxicated driver the driver may face criminal prosecution and civil liability. Our firm, in Portland, Oregon, does not do criminal work but we do represent people who have been hit by drunk drivers.
